How do I make an appointment?
You can contact me via email or phone to make an appointment.
Where are you located?
My office is conveniently located in Downtown Palo Alto.
How long does treatment last?
I will work with you to develop a treatment plan to meet your specific needs. While the length of treatment depends on your unique goals and circumstances, couples therapy frequently ranges from approximately 10-20 sessions. However, we may choose to engage in treatment for a shorter or longer duration of time, depending on your needs and interests.
Can you see one or both members of the couple individually?
My primary focus in couples therapy is on the couple relationship. While individual spousal concerns are of course important, I find it most useful to work through those individual concerns with both spouses present. Hence, it is my general policy to not see members of the couple individually.
Do you ever do individual psychotherapy?
Yes. Although my specialization is in working with couples, I have extensive training working with individuals in outpatient community counseling centers, medical centers, and private practice settings. Please see my Expertise page for further detail.
Will insurance cover the cost of therapy?
Although I do not accept insurance, you may be able to receive reimbursement from your insurance company for my services. At the end of each month, I will provide you with a statement of services that you can submit to your insurance company.
Please note that insurance plans vary widely, and you are responsible for determining what mental health benefits you receive and obtaining reimbursement. I recommend checking your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- Can I be reimbursed for seeing an "out-of-network" provider?
- How many sessions per year does my insurance cover?
- How much will I be reimbursed per therapy session for an "out-of-network" provider?
- What is my annual deductible?
- Do I need pre-authorization?
